You have a body but how much do you really pay attention to it?
We are not taught or trained to listen to our body’s communication. We are taught to ignore, overcome and intellectualize that communication. What do we do when we feel stress – workout, eat, watch television, etc. – anything to drown out our body’s communication.
Meditation changes that equation. It’s about sitting still and noticing what you are experiencing – physically, emotionally, and mentally. Are you still thinking and experiencing a past emotional event? Why? Because you are still carrying that life experience in your body. Your body is tell you that you haven’t release the event. You are still holding on to it.
Some people tell me that they don’t know how to meditation or that they can’t sit long enough to try. inBody Dimension’s meditation style is about learning to create a healthy lifestyle by paying attention to your body’s needs. If you only have 5 minutes, great 5 minutes of putting your attention on yourself can make huge changes in your life.
So, what do you need to meditation? Nothing. I’d recommend a comfortable chair and clothing in a quiet environment; however, I’ve also meditated on busy buses and trains. The point of meditation is to diminish your awareness of your external environment and place your attention on the experiences within your body.
